Group or Classroom Activities

Warm-up Activities:

– Charades

Instructions: Divide the class into small groups. Give each group a list of popular shows and movies mentioned in the article (e.g., “The Night Agent,” “Ginny and Georgia,” etc.). One person from each group will act out the title of a show or movie without speaking, while the others guess what it is. The group that guesses the most titles correctly wins.

– News Summary

Instructions: In pairs, students take turns summarizing the main points of the article to their partner. Encourage them to use their own words and keep their summaries concise. After both students have had a chance to share, they can compare their summaries and discuss any differences or points they found interesting.

– Opinion Poll

Instructions: Create a list of statements related to the article (e.g., “I enjoy watching shows on Netflix,” “I prefer watching movies in English,” etc.). Have students stand in different areas of the room based on whether they agree, disagree, or are unsure about each statement. After each statement, ask a few students to share their reasons for their stance.

– Vocabulary Pictionary

The team that guesses the most words correctly wins.

– Future Predictions

Instructions: In pairs, students take turns making predictions about what they think will happen in the future of streaming services like Netflix. Encourage them to use vocabulary and phrases related to the article (e.g., “I think more people will watch shows in different languages,” “I predict that Netflix will create even more original content,” etc.). After both students have made their predictions, they can discuss and compare their ideas.
