Group or Classroom Activities

Warm-up Activities:

– Charades
Instructions: Divide the class into small groups. Give each group a piece of paper with a K-pop-related word or phrase written on it (e.g. “K-pop”, “Seventeen”, “Glastonbury”). One person from each group will act out the word or phrase without speaking, while the rest of the group tries to guess what it is. The group that guesses correctly gets a point.

– News Summary
Instructions: Have students read the article individually or in pairs. Ask them to write a short summary of the article in their own words. After they have finished, have them share their summaries with a partner, and then with the whole class.

– Opinion Poll
Instructions: Write the following question on the board: “Do you think K-pop will continue to grow in popularity worldwide? Why or why not?” Have students discuss their opinions in small groups, and then conduct a class poll by asking each group to share their thoughts.

– Vocabulary Pictionary
Instructions: Write a list of vocabulary words from the article on the board (e.g. K-pop, Glastonbury, fame, album, fans). Divide the class into teams. One person from each team will come to the front of the class and draw a picture to represent one of the words, while their team tries to guess what it is. The team that guesses correctly gets a point.

– Speed Summarizing
Instructions: Divide the class into pairs. Give each pair a copy of the article. Set a timer for 1 minute. One person from each pair will read the article silently, and then summarize it to their partner within the given time. After 1 minute, have the pairs switch roles. Repeat this process a few times, gradually reducing the time limit to increase the challenge.
