Surf Champion Wants Greener Sport

Surf champion Lucy Campbell thinks her sport needs to be greener. She says surfing uses too many things made from bad materials. These materials create a lot of waste. She wants big surf brands to change.

Surfing uses plastic boards and wetsuits that are not good for the Earth. The surf industry is trying to make better boards and wetsuits. Lucy Campbell will only work with brands that care about the Earth. She says, “It’s hard to say no to a lot of money, but it’s better in the end.”

Surfing looks like a sport that cares about the ocean and the Earth. But making surfboards and wetsuits can hurt the Earth. It makes too much pollution. Surfers also travel a lot to find good waves. This makes more pollution.

Surf companies are trying to make better surfboards and wetsuits. They want to use recycled materials and things from nature. One company in the UK is making a wetsuit from old wetsuits. This is the first wetsuit like this in the world.
