UK Weather is Getting Hotter and Stormier Now

The Met Office warns of escalating extreme weather events in the UK due to climate change.

Try this article at a different level?

The weather in the UK is changing a lot. There are more hot days now than before. Many places in England and Wales are getting very warm. Some days are over 28°C, which is really hot. There are also more sunny days than before.

But, this change can be bad too. There are more rainy days with lots of water. Big storms, like Storm Babet, bring too much rain and cause floods. This can hurt homes and roads. The weather is changing because of things people do, like using cars and factories.

– VOCABULARY PICTIONARY
Instructions: Write weather-related words from the article on the board (e.g., “hot,” “flood,” “storm”). Students take turns drawing a word while their classmates guess the word based on the drawing.

– THINK-PAIR-SHARE

– OPINION POLL
Instructions: Create a simple poll with statements about weather changes (e.g., “I like hot days,” “Rainy days are fun”). Students walk around and ask classmates to agree or disagree, then share their findings with the class.

– FUTURE PREDICTIONS
