Group or Classroom Activities

Warm-up Activities:

– Rainy Day Charades
Instructions: Have students take turns acting out something related to the article, such as a king, queen, or people clapping in the rain. The other students have to guess what the person is acting out. Encourage students to use simple English phrases to make their guesses.

– Singing in the Abbey
Instructions: Play a short snippet of a traditional church choir singing (make sure it’s appropriate and related to the theme of the article). Ask students to listen and try to imitate the singing style. This activity will help students practice their listening skills and pronunciation.

– London Landmark Drawing
Instructions: Divide the students into pairs. Have one student describe a famous London landmark (e.g., Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge) while the other student tries to draw it based on the description. The describing student can only use simple English phrases to describe the landmark. This activity will help students practice their speaking and listening skills.
