The Friendly Dragon

Try this story at a different level?

Once upon a time, in a magical forest, there lived a friendly dragon named Fred. Fred was different from other dragons as he loved to make friends and spread joy instead of terrorizing villagers like his dragon counterparts. However, being a dragon, Fred often scared people unintentionally with his large wings and fiery breath. As a result, he spent most of his time lonely and isolated.

One sunny day, Fred decided to take a stroll through a nearby village, hoping to meet someone who wouldn’t run away screaming. To his surprise, he stumbled upon a group of children playing in a meadow. The children initially shrieked seeing Fred, but they soon realized that he meant no harm. They cautiously approached him, mesmerized by his sparkling scales and kind eyes.

The fearless leader of the group, Timmy, spoke up, “Hello, Mr. Dragon! Why are you so friendly? Shouldn’t you be scaring villagers away?” Fred chuckled and explained how he dreamed of changing the perception of dragons. He wanted everyone to see that not all dragons were mean and that they too could be kind and helpful.

Impressed by Fred’s friendly nature, the children decided to embark on an adventure with him. Together, they flew to neighboring villages, performing small acts of kindness that astonished the villagers. They fixed broken fences, painted houses, and even saved a cat stuck in a tree. The villagers were astounded and grateful, realizing that dragons could be their friends, not their enemies.

Word of Fred’s good deeds spread like wildfire, eventually reaching the King who had been hiding behind castle walls for fear of dragons. Hearing about Fred’s kindness, the King invited him to the castle. The King was amazed at Fred’s friendliness and admitted that his fear had been baseless. From that day forward, Fred became a beloved guest in the kingdom and inspired other dragons to use their strength and power for the good of all.

The moral of the story is that appearances can be deceiving, and it is important not to judge others based on stereotypes. Just because someone is different or looks scary doesn’t mean they are bad or mean. By opening our hearts and minds, we can discover that kindness and friendship can be found in unexpected places.
