Samsung is a big technology company from South Korea. They make many electronics, like smartphones and computer chips. Recently, they announced that their profits went up a lot, mainly because of selling AI memory chips. From April to June, their profits were almost 19 times more than the same time last year.

Many people around the world want AI chips, which makes the prices rise. Samsung's earnings report surprised some investors because it was better than they thought. But, Samsung's stock value went down a little because some people expected even higher profits. Despite this, Samsung's overall market value is more than twice as big since the year started.

Other South Korean companies like SK Hynix also grew a lot. The demand for AI technology is making many companies spend more money on making chips. Countries like Japan, China, and Taiwan are also putting a lot of effort into their semiconductor industries. Investing in these chips is becoming more important around the world.
